Lone Oak Choice Learning Academy

Lone Oak ISD is proud to offer Choice Academy as an alternative route to high school graduation. The Choice Academy provides students an educational setting unique to meeting individual needs through a self-paced, blended learning curriculum that is facilitated by highly qualified teachers. Students will participate in one-to-one, small group, and individualized instruction. 

At Choice Academy we work with students to improve academic, personal, and occupational skills to ensure they are ready for employment and/or post-secondary education. We believe every student will succeed by giving them the support they need.

Program eligibility

Required: 
  • Must be enrolled in grades 5 - 12.

  • Must be currently enrolled at Lone Oak High School or Lone Oak Middle School.

Meet at least one of the following:
  • at-risk for dropping out

  • be in jeopardy of not graduating with senior class

  • have dropped out of school for over a semester

  • be a pregnant or parenting teen

  • have been retained one or more times

  • have been placed in DAEP two or more times

  • qualify to receive services through McKinney-Vento

  • other: administrative discretion

admission process

Step 1: Work with campus administrator for application to Choice Academy. 
Step 2: Submit application to campus administrator. 
Step 3: Receive notification of acceptance or denial into the program. 
Step 4: Commit to Choice Academy for remainder of high school career. 

Note:  Admission is granted on a case by case situation. A campus committee will review each application as they are submitted. Acceptance into the program is for the remainder of a students high school career.

Choice Academy is located on the Lone Oak ISD Choice Academy campus at 602 College Street in individualized classrooms.

First Bell 8:15 AM
Last Bell 2:15 PM

 

 

program coursework

Students will complete work at their own pace with the belief there are no failures. There will be a teacher to support students in mastery of content, but content learning will be provided through an online platform. Students will work on all assignments until mastery is achieved and a passing grade will be awarded. Classwork is consistent with reading assignments, written assignments, and Edgenuity software. The counselors will work with students individually for placement of elective options and CTE credits based on students endorsements.

At Choice Academy, students come first! Our educators build relationship to support each students with personalized goals. Students will continue to have educational support, including counseling, throughout their learning experience, but will not be able to participate in UIL events. 

Students will continue to receive their individual instructional supports. 

Students will have access to: 

  • Self-paced learning

  • Credit recovery/repair

  • Web-based coursework

  • Individualized goal planning
