Learning Outside the Classroom
Lone Oak High School's aviation class recently embarked on an enriching field trip to the American Legend Aircraft Company in Sulphur Springs, TX. This East Texas aircraft manufacturing facility is known for its expertise in constructing, modifying, refurbishing, and repairing Piper make aircraft, making it an ideal learning environment for our aspiring aviators.
During the tour, students were immersed in a world of aviation craftsmanship and innovation. They had the unique opportunity to witness hands-on construction processes, welding techniques, wiring installations, and materials manufacturing methods. From fabric to aluminum, carbon-fiber, and other industry-standard components, students gained valuable insights into the intricate details that go into building and maintaining aircraft.
The students also had the chance to analyze a range of aircraft, including racing airplanes, standard production examples, and modern avionics. This firsthand experience not only deepened their understanding of aviation technology but also sparked their curiosity and passion for the fascinating world of aerospace engineering.
